Special Services: Technical Assistance, Research, and Private Architectural Tours
Technical Assistance: Do you own or plan to buy an historic property in New Haven? Site visits may be scheduled with the New Haven Preservation Trust’s Director of Preservation Services to provide insight and suggestions. Expert advice may include best preservation practices, architectural style identification, eligibility for listing on the National and State Registers of Historic Places, appropriate paint colors and materials, how to apply for historic preservation tax credits and how to find suitable local contractors. Initial site visits are free to all.
The Director of Preservation Services also consults on threatened historic resources (local and statewide). Fees and expenses for such services are mutually agreed upon on a case-by-case basis.
Research: Do you want to learn about a property on your own? The New Haven Preservation Trust shares reference material from its Historic Resources Inventory, registration forms for listing on the National and State Registers of Historic Places, and on-site library. Contact our office to learn more.
Private Architectural Tours: The New Haven Preservation Trust organizes lively and informative architectural tours of New Haven for small and large groups. Tours are available for specific architectural styles, neighborhoods or streets, or a topic of the group’s choosing. Requests should be submitted at least six weeks in advance. Fees are determined by group size and tour length.
For more information about any of these services, please contact our office at 203-562-5919, or email info@nhpt.org.
